π Field Trip: Field trip money is due Wednesday, October 9th. A few friends still need to turn it inβthank you for helping us get everything in on time!
π Supplies Needed: We are running low on copy paper (it wasnβt on our original supply list). If youβre able to send in a pack, we would really appreciate it!
π Reading Challenge: Our fall reading challenge is officially underway! π In September, our classroom winners were Emma and Ezequielβway to go! For October, students will be bringing home a Reading BINGO sheet. If they complete an X on their board, theyβll be entered into a special drawing to be our October winner. πβ¨

Happy Monday,

I recently watched a video that made me laugh. English is a complex language with many rules, and we are teaching students phonics to help them understand when to apply these rules. Some weeks are more challenging than others, but we will keep working on these skills. Over time, they will become automatic, providing students with a toolkit for reading and spelling fluently.
Every Friday, students take a phonics quiz, and their grades are averaged into a monthly score. This means that if they struggle one week, it wonβt significantly affect their overall grade. Students will receive whole-group phonics instruction every day, as well as small-group phonics instruction three or more times a week.
This week in phonics we will work on closed and open syllables.
