Biology is the science of life. In this course we will be investigating the question, what does it mean to be alive? We will study all aspects of life on earth, from cells to biomes, and everything in between.
The material covered in this course will serve as a solid foundation for further studies in medicine, ecology, public health, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, energy production, conservation, and more.
Students should come prepared for class each day with pencils or pens with blue or black ink, a composition or spiral-bound notebook, and index cards. A personal set of colored pencils or markers, scissors, and glue is also recommended for each student. Biology EOC Coach workbooks will also be assigned to each student to keep at home for use on various assignments and as a study aid.
Here is how student grade averages are determined:
Classwork/Homework....................... 25%
Projects/Participation (usually labs)... 25%
Quizzes........................................... 25%
Tests............................................... 25%
We also do lots of lab activities during class, and go through a lot of materials. Donations from parents of any of the following are always appreciated and allow us to continue to do as much hands-on learning in Biology as possible.
