I have had the privilege of being part of River Mill Academy for nearly 18 years. Over the years, RMA has become more than just a workplace—it’s a community, a family, that has shaped not only my life, but also the lives of my children.

I attended Appalachian State University, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Campbell University. I earned a degree in English with a concentration in Southern American Writers, as well as a degree in Communications with a focus in Interpersonal Communication. I also hold a Master of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Family Studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching.

My four children were blessed to attend River Mill Academy, and I am proud of the paths they have taken. Brittany graduated from Wake Forest University with degrees in Statistics and Anthropology and went on to earn her MBA from the Wake Forest School of Business (Go Deacs!). Grey earned a degree in Criminal Justice and his MBA from Campbell University (Go Camels!). Avery graduated with a degree in Business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently pursuing a Master's in Accounting there (Go Heels!). Nataley is a senior at Clemson University, working toward her degree in Business with plans to continue on and earn an MBA and MIB from Clemson (Go Tigers!). River Mill has been an integral part of their success, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

Outside of school, life is full of love and laughter thanks to my family and two fur babies. Bleu is an Aussiedoodle, but might really be a human in disguise. He certainly is spoiled! Grizzly, an Australian Shepherd, is our family protector, who takes her job very seriously.  Our family has been safe under Grizzly's watchful eye against all sorts of evil leaves, shadows, and even the occasional unlucky squirrel who finds himself on Grizzly's side of the fence.  Last year I became a proud Granny to Huxley, who weighed almost 13 pounds at birth. I may be biased, but I’m certain his first word was “Granny” (even if it did sound like “aggaa”—close enough, right?). Huxley definitely has his Granny wrapped around his little (chubby) finger!

My philosophy of education is simple.  I believe every student has the potential to learn, to grow, and to become the best version of themselves possible. My mission is to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in every content area and beyond the classroom.

In addition to Language Arts, I teach 6th Grade Social Studies, and a Reading Challenge elective. I believe in our school, our dedicated teachers and staff, and our ability to prepare students for the world ahead. I am excited to begin this new school year and look forward to the adventures and successes it will bring!

                     I BELIEVE IN YOU!
