I have had the privilege of being part of River Mill Academy for nearly 18 years. Over that time, RMA has become far more than a workplace—it is a community and a family that has shaped not only my professional life, but also the lives of my own children.
I attended Appalachian State University, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Campbell University. I earned a degree in English with a concentration in Southern American Writers, as well as a degree in Communication with a focus in Interpersonal Communication. I also hold a Master of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Family Studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
All four of my children were blessed to attend River Mill Academy, and I am incredibly proud of the paths they have taken. Brittany graduated from Wake Forest University with degrees in Statistics and Anthropology and went on to earn her MBA from the Wake Forest School of Business. Grey earned a degree in Criminal Justice and his MBA from Campbell University. Avery graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Business and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Accounting there. Nataley is a senior at Clemson University, where she is earning a double degree in Business and Marketing and plans to continue on to complete both an MBA and a Master of International Business. River Mill Academy played an integral role in their success, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Outside of school, life is filled with love and laughter thanks to my family and our two fur babies. Bleu, our Aussiedoodle, may actually be a human in disguise—and is certainly spoiled. Grizzly, our Australian Shepherd, is the family protector who takes her job very seriously, keeping us safe from dangerous leaves, suspicious shadows, and the occasional unlucky squirrel. I am also a proud Granny to two wonderful grandsons, Huxley and Oakley. Huxley arrived weighing nearly 13 pounds, while Oakley—born just before Christmas 2025—was a bit smaller at 11 pounds, 7 ounces. Both boys already have this Granny completely wrapped around their little fingers.
My philosophy of education is simple: I believe every student has the potential to learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves. My mission is to equip students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in every content area and beyond the classroom.
In addition to teaching Language Arts, I also teach 6th Grade Social Studies and a Reading Challenge elective. I believe deeply in our school, our dedicated teachers and staff, and our shared ability to prepare students for the world ahead. I am excited to begin this new school year and look forward to the learning, growth, and successes it will bring.
I BELIEVE IN YOU!
