Hello, everybody!
My name is Juliana and I grew up in Cali, Colombia. I worked as an elementary and high school teacher in my country before moving to the States. I moved to North Carolina in 2017, and this has been one of the best career moves I have made.
My students call me Sra. CastaƱo and I am so excited to be your Spanish High School Teacher this year. This is my third year teaching at River Mill Academy. I believe learning is for life and I am always seeking new ways to continue my own education. With this mindset, I have two bachelor degrees, one in Literature and one in Teaching. I also have received my Masters in Spanish Language Learners and Became Certified in Spanish (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-6). I love being a part of the River Mill Community.
Outside of school, I enjoy time spent with my family and friends, especially outdoors. This past summer I spent my time with my husband Samuel and my two kids Caroline and Sebastian. We had a great time going to Puerto Rico, some local spots, and Florida, we also had Family visiting.
In our class we will be working on promoting growth mindsets, strong partnerships and learning a new language. I believe with all of us, students, families, and myself, working together our students can achieve their goals.
I can't wait to spend my time learning and growing with you all.
