Course Description
Welcome to NC Math II! This course is designed to help every student grow, whether you're looking to strengthen your foundation or are ready to tackle new challenges. We will actively connect to and build on previous knowledge from algebra and geometry to explore advanced topics through engaging, task-based activities. By emphasizing collaborative sense-making and developing strong problem-solving skills, we will move beyond memorization to genuine critical thinking. These skills are not only crucial for excelling in math but are also invaluable life skills applicable to any field of study or profession.
Honors Version
Students enrolled in the Honors Math 2 course can expect a curriculum that extends beyond the College Preparation level through acceleration, enrichment, and greater depth. Instruction will emphasize inquiry and problem-based learning, requiring students to take a leading role in mathematical discourse and collaborative work. The course incorporates more advanced assignments and quizzes/tests that demand high level critical thinking and the creative application of concepts to complex, real world problems.
Canvas
We will use Canvas as our primary online platform for all course communication and materials. All announcements, assignments, unit reviews and grades will be posted there. Students must check the Canvas platform daily. Regularly accessing the site will help you stay up to date with any new course materials, important announcements, or any changes to the schedule. Please use Canvas messaging for any questions about the course, allowing up to 24 hours for a reply on weekdays.
