- I made a mistake and thought that families already received their PowerSchool login information in back-to-school packets. However, I learned yesterday that they had not been sent home in those packets. Your student brought home a letter today in their folder with PowerSchool login information on it!
- Next Friday, September 2nd is a half day of school. Please be sure that your student knows how they are getting home from school that day. There will be no afterschool care on these days and students need to be picked up no later than 12:00pm.
- There will be no school on Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day.
- Picture day for our class will be on Wednesday, September 7th. Students will not have time to change clothes or shoes following pictures so please plan accordingly.
- Our class website has been updated and includes the sight words we covered in class this week and what we will be learning next week. Please continue to check our website each week for updates.
- If your student is feeling unwell or has any of the following symptoms, sore throat, stuffy/runny nose, coughing, fever, upset stomach, etc., please keep them home. We had many friends sick this week with the “back to school crud” and we want everyone to stay as healthy as possible!
- Our new assistant, Mrs. Fleming, will start with our class the week after Labor Day.

- Homework will start after Labor Day. This will include one reading worksheet, one math worksheet and a reading log. Homework will be sent home in take home folders.
- I will have graded work sent home this Friday in take home folders. Please remember that families can check grades on PowerSchool. Information on how to set this up came home in student’s back to school packets. I do not have access to families log in information or passwords.
- Students are only allowed to have water in the classroom and may enjoy flavored drinks and juice boxes with their lunch. If you send a regular plastic water bottle with your student to school, PLEASE write their name on it. Many water bottles are getting mixed up at recess because they look alike.
- Our website has been updated with what we are learning this week.
August 14, 2022
- Our PE day is on Tuesdays this year. Please make sure your student wears tennis shoes on this day.
- Our class helped put together their take home folders this week. Please be sure to check these nightly since this is how we communicate about student behavior in our classroom. Folders should come back to school daily so any paperwork can be sent home in them.
- We will start math and reading content this week. I have updated our website with what we will be learning. We will also focus on social studies for the first half of the quarter and will switch to science after progress reports. We will start phonics work next week. https://www.rivermill-academy.org/staff/elementary_school/annie_barner
- Our class wish list for this year can be found at this link. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3DFMKQOO4BVME?ref_=wl_share
- Student back to school packets are due as soon as possible. Please make sure to also turn in the green student information sheet from open house this week.
July 2022
- We will hold a floating open house on Wednesday, August 10 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. This will not be a regular school day for students. Instead, parents and students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and visit classrooms. You may bring your student's school supplies on this day and drop them off in our classroom. I look forward to meeting you and your student soon!
