Welcome to Coach Griffin's Class

My virtual office hours will be from 10:00am-11:00am and 3:00pm to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. I will promptly respond to any emails during this time. Emails sent outside of this time frame will be responded to within 24 hours. If there is anything I can do to help during this time please let me know. I will be available for Zoom Meeting during this time if requested by email.


Elementary PE


River Mill Academy School will be closed until May 15th. During this absence, student work will be completed online through teacher webpages. And submitted by email.

Please make sure you are staying active. Aim for at least 60 minutes a day of physical activity. I strongly encourage cardiovascular activities such as running, jumping jacks, jumping rope, etc. Please refer to this link for ideas on what can be done at home while school is not in session.

There will not be any new assignments for this current week. We will honor this week as a make-up week. All missing assignments must be submitted by Friday, May 15th. If you have questions regarding an assignment you are missing, please contact me.

  4. Do you think your goal is achievable? Why or why not? (2-3 sentences)
  5. What steps do you plan on taking to achieve this goal? (2-3 sentences)

Watch the following video and write a response in complete sentences:
  1. What was the video about? (1-2 sentences)
  2. What were some of the physical benefits that stood out to you?  Were these benefits you already knew about, or new? (2-3 sentences)
  3. What were some of the mental benefits that stood out to you? Were these benefits you already knew about, or new? (2-3 sentences)
  4. Based off of this video, do you think you are performing enough exercise, or do you feel like you could improve? What are some high intensity activities you could do to help improve physical and mental aspects of your life? (2-3 sentences)
Please submit you FITT Log documenting 3 days as well as your Video Reflection in complete sentences by 5/3. If you have any questions please let me know.

Video Assignment:
Please watch and follow along with the following YouTube Video. 
Fitness Video 
(stop the video after 13 minutes).

Please follow the video all the way through. Do the exercises that appear on the screen.

Choose one of each to complete for 30 seconds
     High Knees
 or Mountain Climbers  

     Push ups or Sit ups  

     Lunges or Air Squats 

     Jumping Jacks or Dancing 

After you complete the video please answer the questions for the Reflection Assignment in complete sentences.

     Reflection:

      Answer the following questions IN COMPLETE SENTENCES:

  1. Before you did the exercises, how was your heart rate and breathing?
  2. Which exercises did you choose to do? (Should have completed four)
  3. What changes occurred to your body after exercise? (sweat, heart rate, breathing, body ache, etc)
  4. Did you feel fatigued after doing the exercises?
  5. What are four activities other than the ones listed in the video that you can do at home?

 

Please submit the Reflection Assignment with all questions answered in complete sentences and your FITT log by April 26th. This can be done in an email, you can write it on paper and email the picture, or you can use a Word Document and email this to me. If you have any questions please let me know.

The assignment for this week will be the FITT journal again. Please make sure you document at least 4 days of exercise for 60 minutes each day. Please have this document turned in by Friday 4/10, before the start of Spring Break. If you have any questions please let me know.

The assignment for this week was another Physical Activity Log. This log is different than the previous assignment. In this log students will need to describe their workout/exercise using the F.I.T.T. principle. Instructions are on the first page of the handout. Make sure each activity it listed and 5 days with 60 minutes per day is logged. I
n the subject line of the email include your student's name and grade level. 

The journal will be due each Sunday by 11:59pm for a weekly PE grade. This information can also be found under the 6th Grade Health/PE tab.
