Classroom Behavior

Image result for class dojoThis year we are going to use Class Dojo for communication and updates on your child's behavior throughout the day. Students will earn points for following the rules and being a role model for their peers and lose points when they don't.  Each day a behavior/classroom calendar will go home in their folder with their total positive (+) points and lost/negative (-) points.  Points will be reset each day.

Check out this informational power point and video about this tool.

Rewards:
Students will earn positive points for making good choices and following the rules throughout the building.  Each point earned is recorded with a reason (ex. working hard, following directions, kind to others, teamwork). Students will earn their choice of a prize on Fridays if they haven't lost more than 3 points that week.

Consequences:

When a student makes a bad choice, it will result in losing points on the Class Dojo website so you can see immediately what the behavior was. In the classroom, they will have 1 warning (updated 1/4/19) before I take a point.

The following consequences will be used when they lose a point :

Warning: walk 2 laps (updated 1/4/19)

Loss of 1 point: walk 5 laps  (updated 1/4/19)
Loss of 2 points: walk 7 laps (updated 1/4/19)
Loss of 3 points: walk all of recess  (updated 1/4/19)

You can check the Dojo app/website to find out the reasons why they lost points, but feel free to contact me if you need further clarification. If a student loses more than 3 points they will be written up with a behavior referral to the office.

Severe Behavior Clause

If a student misbehaves (such as fighting, disrespect, harassment, sustained disruption, etc.) he/she will be immediately sent to the principal.
