Board of Directors
River Mill Academy is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the parents of currently enrolled students. The Board is responsible for the legal and financial obligations of the school. The Board sets the general direction and policy of the school but does not manage it on a daily basis.

Position: Vice Chairman Children at the school, previous and graduates: Nicholas (10th grade) and Nathan (5th grade). Number of years at the school: 4 Previous commitments to RMA: I have been very involved in RMA athletics as a coach, assistant coach, driver and volunteer. Current occupation: Executive Director; Rising Star Investments, LLC. What you specifically bring to the board: I rely on my previous business experience that has taught me to look objectively at all sides of a discussion and make an informed decision only after hearing all points. Free-flow comments: My intention is to look out for the best interest of the school by first asking “what is in the best interest of the school” prior to any vote without regards to any personal bias or participation in any hidden agenda. |

Also helped in the classrooms as class parent each year. Current occupation: Owner of East Coast Container Outfitters & self-employed Medical Business Consultant What you specifically bring to the board: I feel I am able to look at all issues and make a decision that is best for the school. I do not have any personal agendas and want what is best for the school as a whole. |

Position: Board of Directors Member Children at the school, previous and graduates: Zachary is a senior this year and has been at RMA since 1st grade. Jesse and Marla are sophomores and have been at RMA since kindergarten Number of years at the school: 12 years Previous commitments to RMA: I was on the relocation committee that was formed when the school moved from Saxapahaw. Throughout the years, I have been involved in PTT, Boosters, and a grade parent. I am currently serving on the Policy and Procedure committee. Current occupation: Registered Nurse at UNC HealthCare and co-owner of Crawford Plumbing. What you specifically bring to the board: Having been involved with the school for 12 years, I have witnessed first hand the development of the school. I am dedicated to the school and want to ensure the school continues to be academically sound, financially secure, and a safe environment for our children. Decisions will be based on facts and communications, not speculation. |

Position: Board Member Children at the school, previous and graduates: Kaitlyn A. Lloyd, 9th grade and Madelyn K. Lloyd, 4th grade Number of years at the school: 10 years Previous commitments to RMA: I have been a class parent for 5 years and volunteered my services for painting, boosters, PTT, field days and other fundraisers. I recently served on the By Laws revision BOD subcommittee. Current occupation: Business Manager, UNC Chapel Hill, Energy Services-Cogeneration. What you specifically bring to the board: Two decades of business management and contract negotiation experience that I intend to apply to ensure that River Mill Academy continues to be the safe and nurturing environment my children have had the privilege to be a part of for 10 years. Free-flow comments : I believe our children learn from example and intend to ensure my own children understand that in order to question a process you must first understand the process and second be a part of the process. I intend to ensure they understand that a successful outcome does not come from speculation and second hand information, but from research, participation and communication . |

Position: Director Children at the school, previous and graduates: Jonah (2nd grade) and Jude (5th grade). Number of years at the school: 3 Current occupation: Assistant District Attorney - Prosecutorial District 15B - Orange County. What you specifically bring to the board: My legal background affords me the ability to navigate the specific body of laws that govern the RMA Board. Free-flow comments: I am a life-long resident of Alamance County and have lived my entire life within a mile of where our school now stands. I wanted my children to attend River Mill because of its dedication to academics; character building; and instilling respect for one’s peers. In that regard, River Mill feels much like school did when I was growing up here. I believe that it is of the utmost importance that River Mill continues to teach and encourage our students to be of high moral character. |
